TGA participates in St. Jude Fitness Challenge Fundraiser in memory of Zowie Kile

On Saturday, August 13, TGA gymnasts participated in a Workout for St. Jude “Fitness Challenge” Fundraiser in memory of Zowie Kile (January 8, 2004 – August 4, 2011).

The goal of the fundraiser was to raise money that will help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital find new treatments for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The gymnasts raised funds by asking for contributions for doing the most that they could do in sit-ups, push-ups, chin-ups, headstands and walking on their hands.

To date, we have raised $800. Anyone can contribute by sending a check to TGA or by donating to the event here.

TGA to participate in Lincoln High School Homecoming Parade

LHS

Team Gymnastics Academy will be participating in the Lincoln Homecoming Parade. The Director of TGA Robin Brown and coach Hillary Brown are both Lincoln Alumni and several of the gymnasts from TGA attend Lincoln High School. We are very honored to participate in this parade.

The Lincoln High School Homecoming parade, held every four years, starts at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday, October 7. It will last about one hour. The All Southside Parade runs for a mile on Southwest 12th Street near the school. It starts at Watrous Avenue and ends at Bell Avenue.

Some of the groups that march each time are the football team, middle school and high school bands and area dance troupes. The homecoming royalty rides in convertibles, and politicians wave for votes. Al Graziano, Lincoln’s principal who retired after the last school year, will serve as the parade’s grand marshal. The powder puff football game follows the parade at Hutchens Stadium.

Lincoln’s homecoming game is against Ottumwa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
